Blacksmithing, previously known as Metalsmith, is a trade skill and allows creation of metal items using an anvil. This includes weapons, armor, and tools. Once the minimum skill requirement to craft an item has been reached, a player can attempt to craft it. However, the probability of success will be dependent on the skill in blacksmithing, so the higher the player's blackmithing skill exceeds the minimum requirement, the more likely the craft will succeed.
When the player's blacksmithing skill exceeds the minimum requirement for the craft by 50.1%; then the item becomes trivial to to make.
This guide will help you raise your blacksmithing to 100. Make sure during this guide that you're checking your work orders and completed any that fit into the crafted items at the time. Doing so will increase your recipes, help on resource consumption, and supply you with some money. (Suggestion: Purchase training from a metalsmith npc for 3 silver, which will put your Blacksmithing at 30 to start with saving your time.)
